Arepa: slightly salty corn cake

Picaña: top rump sirloin stake

Hello everyone, today we will prepare some delicious arepas stuffed with picanha

Ingredients

Arepas

1 cup of flour to make arepas PAN

1 and 1/4 cups of warm water

1/2 teaspoon fine salt

Picanha

1 small picanha

1 cup mozarella cheese

Chimichurri (here I leave you the link of this sauce in case you don't know how to make the best one)

This recipe is intended for 3 people. So if you want to make more or less quantity, multiply or divide the ingredients and everything will be fine!

Preparation

Start by mixing the flour, warm water and salt until you form a smooth and homogeneous dough. Let it rest for 3 minutes and begin to form the arepas. We use a hamburger mold so that our arepas are perfect. To prevent them from sticking to the mold, we spread it with a little oil on both sides and that's it, it's super easy.

Then in a very hot pan (better if it is a grill) place the arepas without oil or any other fat, do not forget to turn them to grill them on both sides. They must be crisp and dry to remove from heat.

While the arepas are roasting, trim the picanha by removing any excess fat and fibrous tissues that it may have. Cut the picanha into thin strips and season with salt to taste. Then in a very hot frying pan with a drizzle of oil, cook the picanha as you want. Add the mozzarella cheese and mix everything very well.

Once the arepas are ready, remove them from the heat and open them in the center with a knife very carefully, trying to make a pocket inside them. Fill them abundantly with meat and cheese and serve with a delicious chimichurri.

This is DELICIOUS!! The combinations of flavors and textures is incredible. The crunchiness of the arepa, the softness of the meat, the chewy melted cheese and the mild acidity of the chimichurri are the perfect combination.

As we always say:

If your plate doesn't look like our image, don't worry! We spent over 40 minutes trying to find the perfect angle for the photo.
